Company Description

Lawson Auto Service started in business on October 15, 1978. The company was started by Lloyd and Roger Lawson and was the Sinclair service station at 6th and Locust. We had full-service fuel pumps and provided auto repairs and service. Since we raced stock cars, there was usually one sitting around the garage being worked on in our spare time. Dad was probably the oldest guy out there racing at the local tracks and he was able to hold his own against the younger guys.
We moved across the street to our present location in May of 1987, quit selling gasoline, and went strictly to auto repair and service. Our garage is a former bowling alley and was well known many years ago. When Dad passed away in 2001, I became sole owner and have continued to provide auto repair services. I’ve had many great customers and a lot of them have become good friends.
Automotive technology has certainly changed from when we started in 1978. Computer controls were just being introduced at that time and were in their infancy. Fuel injection was on very few cars. Now, I rarely even see a carbureted vehicle, let alone a vehicle with points and a condenser. Most cars now have several computers for the different systems. It can be very challenging at times to diagnose a vehicle but is very rewarding when finding the answer to a perplexing problem. It sure does keep the job interesting!
