Art lovers should allow plenty of time to check out the museums, galleries, shops, and studios that dot the Sante Fe landscape. Make a day of walking or driving Canyon Road and checking out the large and small galleries there. Museum of International Folk Art: This museum celebrates folk art from around the world, and prides itself on exhibits that interest visitors of every age. There are child-specific activities and exhibits available, and everyone under the age of 16 is admitted to the museum for free.

Canyon Road: Canyon Road is an actual road heading into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It is also the jewel of Santa Fe's arts district. The road is home to over one hundred studios and galleries featuring art of all kinds, including Native American works.

New Mexico History Museum: New Mexico was once a Spanish territory, Sante Fe was the government's "seat." The Palace of the Governors is now the state's own history museum.

Harrell House of Natural Oddities: Harrell House is a museum and a science store with a strong emphasis on insects. Children love checking out the fossils and mounted insects, along with live animal exhibits.

Hyde Memorial State Park: Hyde Memorial is New Mexico's first state park. Visitors can enjoy hiking and camping, as well as cross country skiing and sledding in the winter.

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum: Works by the famed artist, as well as a rotating collection of other works, are on display at this museum. There are also exhibits that detail Ms. O'Keeffe's life through photographs, correspondence, and personal belongings.
