Established in 1974, Names and Numbers was founded by Mr. Ken Brock. In the beginning, Mr. Brock organized all aspects of the small independent directory company including sales, production, marketing, and distribution. Daring to dream, Mr. Brock moved the business from Springfield, Missouri to his hometown of Pittsburg, Kansas, where he operated Names and Numbers out of his home.
Names and Numbers continued to grow steadily over the next 10 years. In 1984, unexpectedly, the landmark antitrust court decision had a profound effect on Mr. Brock's business. The monopoly of AT&T was changed with deregulation of the telecommunications industry, allowing Names and Numbers to expand and offer better local phone books for the communities it served.
With 10 years of growth and success behind him, in 1984, Mr. Brock began acquiring and building new service territories for Names and Numbers throughout the Midwest.
Since the beginning, the vision of Names and Numbers has been to publish accurate, complete, and easy-to-use local phone books that provide five-star value to our advertisers.
More than 40 years later, Names and Numbers' vision continues to be successful, producing award-winning directories containing an abundance of useful, local information, including an Emergency Page, Resource Guide (providing areacode/time zone map, toll free numbers, and state zip codes), Community Information Section (providing calendar of events, local area maps, and local stadium seating charts), comprehensive Yellow and White Page Sections, and the popular Caller ID Guide, plus much more!

As a leader in providing better local information, Names and Numbers has expanded its products to include an enhanced Internet Yellow Pages and Mobile services that offer advertisers even more opportunities to reach existing and potential customers.
Today, Names and Numbers has grown into one of the leading independent directory companies in the country, employing over 250 people and reaching over four million homes and businesses in 68 markets throughout 11 states.
