Frisco History

Frisco was founded by Henry Recen in 1873 in response to the mining boom that came to the area in the early 1870s. By the time of the town's incorporation in 1882, Frisco maintained two railroads, hotels, saloons, and many mines. Due to the convergence of the railroads and local stagecoach there, Frisco was at the center of mining activity for a number of years. It is currently surrounded by four of the most popular ski resorts in the country – Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Keystone.
