Ellensburg History
Kittitas County is one of the most geographically diverse areas in the Pacific Northwest. Ellensburg is a city located east of the Cascade Range in central Washington and is the home of Central Washington University. "Cle Elum" is a Native American word meaning "swift water" after the Cle Elum River. The area has various art galleries and museums. The Kittitas Valley is internationally famous for its timothy hay.
