Southwestern Idaho is a geographical term used to describe the area along the state of Idaho's borders with Oregon and Nevada. Its most heavily populated area is the Boise Metropolitan Area – four cities (Boise, Caldwell, Meridian, and Nampa) spanning five counties (Ada, Boise, Canyon, Gem, and Owyhee) and posting a total population of more than 616,000. Nearly 40 percent of Idaho's total population can be found in this area.
